There are two parts to our name: "Kisatchie" and "Bigfoot," reflecting our love of both the expansive National Forest and the mystery surrounding the possibility of a large creature living so near to us.
The name reflects our merchandise, too, as we offer nearly as many Kisatchie products without Bigfoots as there are products with Bigfoots. And we attempt to capture the very real beauty of the Forest in the products we design.
The eagle photo that accompanies this article is a great example. I shot that photo in Spring 2013. It is the male of the pair that occupied the nest now known as E1. They produced rare triplets that year.
I spent much of that spring under the nest observing as the eaglets first appeared, as mom and dad brought fish home for dinner from Kincaid Lake, as they screeched magnificently to keep predators at bay and, finally, as the triplets fledged and they all departed to carry on their eagle business.
I have added this photo and two others I shot that spring to shirts, Christmas ornaments, a girls' sundress, a baby beanie, mugs, jigsaw puzzles and more.
Images from Wolf Rock Cave, Longleaf Vista Trail, Caroline Dormon Trail, Wild Azalea Trail, Kisatchie Bayou and Valentine Lake as well as Winn, Rapides, Natchitoches and Grant Parish forest roads also fill our shop.
I'll talk more about the Bigfoot images in another post. For now, just know that forest lovers can do an awful lot of happy shopping, even if they aren't lovers of Bigfoot.
Enjoy!
