I still had a bit of time and energy today after my morning errands, so I took the back roads home, stopping at Kincaid Lake along the way. Kincaid Lake is in the Calcasieu District of the Kisatchie National Forest, just a few minutes from my home.
Kisatchie's famous eagles nest along Kincaid's shore. In fact, these days there are two pairs, Louis and Anna, and Alex and Andria, each currently attending two eggs. Both nests are watched by webcams, which you can view any time at the Forest's website. I watch daily, but I prefer watching them live, always worth the adventure.
Today's visit was inspired by my attire; this morning I donned my silver Kincaid Lake t-shirt -- available in the shop -- which features an eagle I watched way back in 2013, when I spent the Spring under the nest and gawked in awe as the adults fished on the lake with magnificent dives, then returned to their triplets with dinner in their talons.
I used a better camera back then. Today with my cellphone, I tried to shoot a selfie of me in my Kincaid shirt in front of the namesake lake. I failed miserably. Fortunately, I am pretty good with editing software and fancy filters, and can now present to you a collage within a collage, featuring my selfie, sort of, as well as the lake and a lovely forest road along the way.
